Does anyone know how to put a DVD onto an Ipod? I know there is a way for Mac's to do it, but I'm not sure of a way for Windows to do it.  I want to put the new Jeff Dunham DVD onto my Ipod but can't figure out how.

You can download off YouTube as well.  Search for it on Google > Click on the video you want(not the play button in google) > On the right hand side there is are several links > find the one that says 'Download this Video' > Select the iPod video Download option.  If that option is greyed out, then your gonna have to get it using AdBlock or the like.

Well, first off, let me say that I have no idea how I missed this post...

Second, converting files to play back on an iPod is actually really easy with the right software. They have a basic version of mediacoder that is designed to take pretty much any video and convert it to a file playable by an iPod. It can be found here. It uses ffmpeg (basically the same software VLC uses), so it can convert almost any video file known to man... unless it has copy protection built in. Most likely your DVD's will have copy protection on them, so you would have to remove the encryption (dvd-decrypter or dvd-shrink) or find a torrent for the files. Then this program can covert it.

Oh and the beauty of this, is the program is a SourceForge Project, which means it is open source.

So now you can fill your iPod up with all the Red vs Blue episodes, or some of your many TV Shows (I still have more Grin).

Happy Converting

Let's see... Apple or Microsoft... Either one has a monopoly. It just depends on how you look at it. And I highly doubt the Zune will play anything. It will probably play the extent of what is supported by WMP by default with the possible added exception of Divx/xvid. But I doubt it will play MOV's or h264 videos or even mkv's (just another container format like avi's).

That is why I just have VLC on my thumbdrive. Pretty much anywhere I go I have computer access with windows, and then I can play literally any file I can throw at it.

Yep... I already had a friend at work try it (not computer savvy at all... kinda like Justin Grin), and he loves it. Very simple to use and supposedly it looks great on the ipod.

I got a program for my brother that is super easy, will put any format of video music or picture on any ipod (even the iphone), zune, psp, dvd, or any usb device.  I will post the program on the website with a link from here.  And yes Jeremy, my zune will support .mov and others (with a firmware update I got from the zuneboards.com(aka a hack))

Well the full blown version of mediacoder will do anything to anything. Although I don't know if it will do pictures.

But with supporting MOV and all that other stuff, it won't ever happen without someone hacking it. Microsoft wants everyone to use wma/wmv.
