Yep, apparently M$ has realized that Vista is killing them. I've never seem to many people moving away from M$ and going to Linux and Mac.  The interesting part is that the new OS is going to be called Windows 7.  By my count shouldn't it be at least Windows 17?  Lets count:  Windows 1.0, Windows 2.0, Windows 3.0, Windows 3.1, Windows 3.11, Windows NT, Windows NT 3.5, Windows NT 4, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows SE, Windows CE, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Vista. I'm not counting XPs 3 different version (home, pro, corp) or Vista's countless versions.  Why can't they get it right?  Altho M$ counts 7 by, Windows 1.0, 2.0, 3.x, NT, XP, Vista.

I'm actually a little hopeful that they will release 7 in a timely manner,  but make sure it's not crap.  This will make people try M$ again, then become even more pissed off at them.  Did anyone use XP when it first came out?  It was CRAP! (still kinda is, but we can deal with it after 7 years).

Oh and speaking of CRAP! Vista SP1 is due out soon and XP SP3 is in testing.  Enjoy your updates.  ^_^

True, but there is a difference. Windows sucks, and they have been using that name for 20 years.  Sony's Playstation is a good name and a fantastic product.  It's mostly... (how do I put this nicely)... slow people who don't know the difference and/or don't know what they have.

I think it is actually Windows 3.x, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows Vista. I think that they are just considering versions released to the consumer market. No server/workstation versions.

I actually can't wait until wine perfects their DirectX10 implementation, because then you can have DX10 on Windows XP.

Yeah, Windows 7 needs to be just an (using the term Very Loosely) Upgraded version of XP Corporate, and have 2 versions, a basic and a advanced or something.

Screw having two versions. The differences in XP Home and Pro were pathetic. Surely wasn't worth the extra $100. They should go back to the 98 or ME style and,,, well I guess still have two versions, but just a Retail and an OEM.
