Well without having a price to go on, I wouldn't want to figure out everything. Money obviously dictates your performance. I went through motherboards and narrowed the list down to five. These all have on board video, but will support the newer PCIe video cards when you want to put the money into it.

Motherboards

As far as the processor go I would recommend at least a dual core. From there it just depends on how much money you want to spend.

With memory I have always had good luck with Corsair. I would probably recommend at least 2GB (get a kit of 2x1GB sticks). The motherboard will tell you what type of memory to get but I think any DDR2 memory will work. If you can spare the extra money I would also recommend getting their XMS series. It is just higher quality memory.

Well I'm hoping to keep it between $300-$400.

Well now Dell is telling me that unless I pay an extra $170, I can't get the 6 mo no interest.  What a load of crap, but I think that unless Dell pulls their heads out that I will be getting this one.

ooooo, Vista! I hope it could be downgraded to XP.  Why don't you just get the Dell, pay it off in a few months are get charge an extra $30-$40 in interest. instead of giving them $170 for no interest for only a few months.

I don't know right now, I am thinking about a credit card with no interest, for 6 or 12 mo, that way I can get my laptop and rebuild my desktop at the same time, I qualify for a credit card with 12.49% interest, so why pay Dell 20%?

Well I am looking to spend about $400 to rebuild my computer.  I found a CPU I like but I need to find a motherboard and a video card, thats where I need help.  Obviously the motherboard will dictate the RAM, but I can figure out which Ram I need.  I could probably get by with a mobo with onboard video for what I use it for.

Here is a link for the processor I am looking at
