YAY! I'm going to Defcon 15 in Las Vegas tomorrow!  I leave early Thursday morning and will be gone until Sunday night!

In case you don't know what Defcon is, its an UnderGround Hacker Convention.  There will be thousands of fellow Hackers and Crackers (explanation below) there sharing ideas,  tips,  cracks, and vulnerabilities.  I will get to hear from some of the smartest and best Hackers and Code writers in existance.  Personally I would like to also goto the BlackHat Hacker Con. Unfortunately it's not only hard to get in, but expensive, about $500 minimum.  This will be the second Defcon I have been to and it looks to be as much, if not more fun than last time. Plus I'm getting a good deal just like last year.  Total (minus food, gas, Mountain Dew, smokes, and misc crap) cost is only $400! I get to stay in the same Hotel as the con for 4 days and 3 nights for $300 and then $100 for the pass.  By the time I'm done I will probably be looking at about $550 or so.  I hope to keep it under $500 since I'm unemployed.  Grin

Explanations (just in case you give a *bleep*):
Despite what many people think Hackers don't "break" into your computer.  Its because of Movies (like Hackers) that these terms have become twisted.  Today we consider ourselves Hackers because of that.

The REAL definitions are:  Hacker, a code writer.  These "hack" at code to find problems like security holes or memory loops.  A Cracker is someone who "cracks" or "breaks" into your computer.

P.S. If anyone wants to donate to the EFF (eff.org) let me know, if I give them cash you can free stuff.  Please support the EFF or atleast tell people who care about our Digital and basic American Rights to help.  Anyways, I don't know what you get for how much you donate, but if you see merchandise on their site you would like just let me know and I'll pick it up for ya. (It's sometimes cheaper at the Con.)

Well Defcon 15 was a huge success, I learned so much! I got some swag! I got a free Verizon Wireless card (I got the trivia question correct). I got to meet Dark Tangent, PLUS I get to go out drinking with Winn, who is the host of Hacker Jeopardy! Now that was awesome!!!

The EFF raised over $23,000!!! And the Hacker Foundation raised about $4,000! Plus Johnny Long (the author of books like Hacking Google) started 'I hack Charities.org'. You do some work, hack and crack a few things.  When your done you get to lick Professional References on your Resume!!!

You learn so much that it takes a hole year to process it.  So just when you finish processing everything you have learned from the last year, Defcon comes around again.  Now I have another year to process everything.

I can't wait to go again next year!

You need to update your blog, I'm sure a lot has happened since Aug 6th.  I know you're at RC Willey, what else has happened?
